On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, also celebrated as Vijayadashami, we extend our warmest greetings to British Hindu families and communities across the United Kingdom and around the world. Dussehra celebrates the triumph of good over evil, truth over falsehood and light over darkness. May its timeless message inspire courage, unity and compassion in our shared public life. We wish everyone celebrating a joyful and peaceful Dussehra, filled with happiness, prosperity and renewed hope for the year ahead.

Sardar Patel Memorial Society UK celebrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service in Parliament
Sardar Patel Memorial Society UK celebrated the remarkable milestone of 25 years of public service by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Bhai Modi Ji, at an event in the British Parliament. The event was hosted by APPG British Hindus member Lord Rami Ranger in the Attlee Room at the House of Lords. It brought together members of Sardar Patel Memorial Society UK and community leaders for an occasion reflecting on Prime Minister Modi’s quarter-century of public leadership. Speakers highlighted India’s development over this period, including its rise from the world’s tenth-largest economy to the fourth largest, the UK–India Free Trade Agreement, the success of Make in India and the achievements of India’s space programme. The gathering celebrated the progress made during these 25 years and the growing strength of the relationship between India and the United Kingdom.

APPG British Hindus marks Gandhi Jayanti in London and hails Captain Smit Machchhar’s courage
APPG British Hindus joins communities across London in marking Gandhi Jayanti and paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring principles of truth, non-violence, service and world peace. Members of the Indian community and local leaders gathered in London for prayers, floral tributes and Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans. The observance began at Tavistock Square, where Indian High Commissioner to the UK P. Kumaran led the gathering, and concluded with floral tributes at the Gandhi statue in Parliament Square. A Buddhist peace prayer and renditions of ‘Raghupati Raghav’ and ‘Vaishnava Jan’ formed part of the commemorations. On this occasion, APPG British Hindus also takes a moment to hail Captain Smit Machchhar, the brave Indian-origin Flydubai pilot whose courage helped save lives during a serious in-flight incident. His actions reflect the spirit of service, restraint and humanity at the heart of Gandhi’s message. In a divided and fast-changing world, Gandhiji’s teachings remain a vital moral compass. We honour his legacy and all those who live its values through courage, compassion and service to others.

APPG British Hindus hails Captain Smit Machchhar’s extraordinary bravery
The APPG for British Hindus hails Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary courage during the serious in-flight incident aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073. Despite being seriously injured, Captain Machchhar’s bravery helped protect the passengers and crew and avert a potential catastrophe. He is a true hero and a source of pride for India. We wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.

APPG British Hindus Message on Nepal Tragedy
APPG British Hindus extends its deep condolences, heartfelt grief and prayers to the people of Nepal and all affected communities from around the world following the devastating flash floods in the border region with Tibet. The information emerging from the region is very disturbing, with entire villages submerged, hundreds of lives lost and many people still unaccounted for. The tragedy is beyond words and highlights the impact of climate change leading to extreme events. Hundreds of tourists and pilgrims from around the world visit the region during this season for religious pilgrimages. A number of Hindu pilgrims were in the area for pilgrimages including the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The loss of life and destruction is unimaginable. We stand with humanity in this time of grief and pray for the families who are worried about their loved ones and for those who are still unaccounted for.

APPG British Hindus stands in solidarity with Jewish community
On behalf of British Hindu community, APPG for British Hindu stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in this dificult time. Terrorism in all its form needs to be rejected from our society. The attack at Golfers Green, where two Jewish men—34-year-old Shloime Rand and 76-year-old Moshe Shine—were attacked on Wednesday, is being treated by police as a terrorist incident. Sustained violence against the Jewish community requires urgent government action.

APPG British Hindus – Statement on the first anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam
As we mark the first anniversary of tragic and brutal terrorist attacks sponsored by terrorists coming from Pakistan into Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir India. Its is hard to forget that the bullets did not merely attack innocent tourists in Pahalgam; such incidents strike at the core of humanity and peace. Victims were identified on the basis of their religion and murdered in cold blood. the world needs to stand up to terrorism in all its forms and ensure those perpetrating acts of terror are punished.
